Spiritual Emphasis Week
I had the chance to visit some of my old stomping grounds and be the guest speaker for the Elementary school Spiritual Emphasis Week at International School. It was an awesome week. I was greeted at the front of the school by many of my old students and it was wonderful to hug them and talk to them. I also had the traditional picture taken by the IST Christmas tree.
The theme was The Fruit of the Spirit. Several of the teachers led some songs before we began each day. I wrote some skits that several of the teachers helped me with that were modeled after a game show, "Spot the Fruit of the Spirit". The kids loved it and laughed at seeing their teachers perform as "good" and "bad" fruits. After the skits, I was able to use stories, videos, power points and puppets to speak to the kids. Each day I tried to present some sort of a challenge of how they could use it in every day life. We also worked on memorizing a new verse each day.

One of my favorite parts of the week was having students come up to me and ask, "Are we going to have spiritual emphasis again tomorrow?" Another favorite part of the week was hearing the teachers and the students talk about what they had been learning. One day a few of the second graders came to one of their teachers, very excited. They explained that at recess they saw someone sitting by themselves and decided to go and sit with them. They told the teacher that they were excited that they showed the fruit of kindness. It was awesome to not only know that they were hearing about things, but also putting them into practice!
For the next few weeks I will be in the United States to do some work from home while the Honduran schools are on their longer break. I'd love to be able to meet with as many of my supporters as possible. I thank you all for your support and I'm looking forward to having this time to get ready for this next longer chapter of ministry.
Please pray for:
- finishing the tasks that I am working on during this time at home
- a good time to reconnect with family and friends
- my roommate and I are still looking for a car
- continued direction and vision in ministry
- preparation for the Bible classes that will be starting when I get back
sounds great jennifer! It's sweet that you made yourself available for God to work through you at International school!
