I will seek you in the morning...
I am not a morning person. This is something many people do not know about me, but this is something those who know me very well know. During the day time I am generally happy, bubbly, and thrilled to see and talk to almost anyone. However, wake me up before I have allowed myself to sleep a thorough amount and you will be exposed to my morning face. This morning Jennifer does not smile much (except on off days) and prefers not to talk to anyone for usually about a half hour to an hour, sometimes longer. However, this is something that I am slowly changing. God has shown me that the morning truly is a sign of his faithfulness. I am blessed to spend one more day with Him, and with those I love. Something that has helped me in my morning fog and grumpiness this summer is to spend time with God. I don't always get a chance to spend time with God before I see the first people that I live with, but after I take the time to seek him I am filled with more joy for the morning. Is this my promise to become a happy chipper morning person? No. However, I think if I think of this from a life perspective, during the "morning" times of my life, if I seek God, I can find joy. This is my goal. That each morning I may rise with the desire to seek him and with him as my first and best thought.
Like the words of Be thou my vision:
Be my best thought by day or by night,
waking or sleeping thy presence my light.
By day or by night. Each day.
and another older song:
I will seek you in the morning and I will learn to walk in your ways...
and
step
by
step
You'll lead me.
I will follow you all of my days.
Allow God to lead me... beginning with the morning.
Father,
May I seek you ever the more each morning and each day.
May your presence be what defines my day.
That it may be filled with a joy and a peace
With a promise of your faithfulness.
That I may seek to love you above all else.
That I may seek to love others above myself.
Even in the morning.
May my mornings become a time to seek you and to know you more.
I love you.

May you find God's presence and faithfulness and joy as you begin each morning. If I, the non morning person can, so can you.
