What I love about Sundays....

What I love about Sundays…
restful mornings, time to worship, greetings with kisses, food, spanglish, feeling God's presence, seeing God work in people's lives, jokes, and so much more...

This semester, one of the changes (and blessings) that has come my way is going to a new church. I have been attending an English speaking service at a large church in Tegus called CCI. The English speaking service meets in the afternoon and is very small. Last semester, I went to a Spanish speaking church. I did enjoy it, however I didn’t find myself growing much. I don’t think it was because of the language, more because of the community. Although I miss hearing Spanish, I also know the point of church isn’t for me to practice my Spanish.
The community I’ve found in this new church has been a huge blessing. I finally feel like I am involved in something outside of school. I am making friends that aren’t all teachers. Don’t get me wrong, teachers are great, but it’s nice to have a bit more variety in life. I’ve felt encouraged by simply having these people around me and knowing that on Sundays I can count on seeing them and knowing that they care. I love listening to some of them speak Spanglish and hearing their thoughts on what we heard in church that day. I like joking around and sharing meals. Those are the things I really love about Sundays.
I think the best part of it is that this is what draws me closer to God. Seeing real people in everyday life who are journeying with me towards God. I praise him for that.

This week, I will be traveling (well at least that’s the plan) to El Salvador for spring break. We will be staying at a small hotel with a pool (hopefully) and at the beach. I know the water can be pretty vicious in this particular area, so we’ll have to be careful but it should be a wonderful relaxing time with friends. Also, if we get lucky we may get to San Salvador where there is a Starbucks. =) It will be fun to go on a little adventure.

Changing topics again… ha ha.
When I came here, I viewed everything as a great big adventure. In some ways I still do. However to be honest, it’s an everyday kind of adventure. The small adventures that creep into my life each day when I am at home is the type of adventures I have here. It may look a little different here, but it’s still normal, everyday, beautiful, life. There is something simple yet adventurous to each day. Currently the title of my blog is “The mostly true tales and musings of a new adventurer”, but I might just have to change it. I am a part of God’s grand adventure and have been all along each and every day of my life.
