Random days.

Time keeps slipping away before I realize it! I think it has been more difficult for me to blog because everything just seems so normal to me here. However, I thought I would tell you a few random things about my life. =)

Let's start with two good quotes from the week:
- My students were passing back papers from the week that I had put in the return basket. One of them came up to me and said, " Miss, who is answer key?" oops...

- Last week, I drank coffee for the first time in a while. That morning I happened to get extremely excited about a geometry lesson. (I know, right?) After singing a song about perimeter and then working on a problem, I was pretending the kids were in a game show if they were up at the board working. After one of them showed their work, I turned to the class and said excitedly "And the answer is......"
to which one of the students responded smiling:
"Too much coffee."

- One of my students frequently smells me and says "Oooh you smell of jabon." (Spanish for soap) However, nearly every time I mishear it and  feel slightly offended at first before realizing that she said soap, not ham.

-Two of my good friends here, Molly and Josh,  got engaged to each other this week....During the middle of my math test, in the hallway, which made for a very confused me on why all the students were outside screaming and running. A slightly humorous exchange. However, it all turned out just fine and I am very excited for their wedding this summer!

I truly do love my students. I have realized as this year is ending how precious the time I have with them is. On these hot days, in the last few weeks it is so hard to focus for all of us. It becomes extremely easy to become impatient. However, when I really sit down and think about them I have seen amazing growth this year. Even when I felt like I was teaching them nothing, they learned. Many of them have improved their testing scores, which obviously is only a small measure. Many of them seem simply a bit more grown up than they used to. I feel so incredibly blessed by the fact that somehow God has achieved this through all the struggles and imperfections.

This is short and sweet, but maybe that means I'll remember to write again soon...
I'll be home in just one month. I think that it might be more of a culture shock for me coming home than it was coming here after Christmas again, so I'm already beginning to prepare myself. Summer here I come!
