Some are just more descriptive...
I am very proud of my students and how much some of them have grown this year. I had to laugh today at how wonderfully descriptive some of my students are. I was grading a test and came across these answers.
Write an example of a metaphor:
most of the answers were something like this (similar to the example I gave): My hands are ice.
One answer: Your shoes are an amazing garden filled with beautiful and big flowers.
I think this young man is going to be a poet for some ladies. ha ha.
Or the next question, I had explained that a boy had practiced and practiced for a competition. Then he gets up to sing. Predict what will happen next.
Most answers: He will sing. He will win the competition.
One answer: He felt nervous as he stepped in front of millions of people wanting ot hear him. As he sings "Just the way you are" he will make a beautiful song and he will win the competition.
I got a whole story right there. =)
Needless to say, my students are wonderful. Although sometimes I wonder if they are learning things, such as today when one of them asked me what a decimal is... EEEK, I know that they have grown immensely. Looks like I can teach them a thing or two. =)
