new year

It's been a long time friends... I want to work on that. But you know it's only one thing on a long list of "things to work on". The New Year is always a good time for reflection and seeing who we want to be and where we have come from. There are some things that I've realized about making goals.
Goals and "resolutions" can't happen just at New Years. I make a choice every day to meet certain goals. This way I don't give up after messing up one day. I am a fairly reflective person, I love reading through my old journals and seeing where God has brought me.
I can read things that I wrote in college like: My mission as a teacher is to inspire students to realize their full potential by caring about each student individually and equipping him or her with the skills needed for life. When I read things like this, it makes me feel a bit of longing for a time in my life when I thought anything was possible and that I could do it all. The older I get the more I realize that I can't do it all. But I want to keep that light hearted hope. The awesome thing is that I serve a God who can. Nothing is impossible for God. I encourage you to think about what you feel is impossible or where you need hope in your life.

This year, I have made several goals, which I don't necessarily feel compelled to share with you. If you really want to know. We can hang out and I'd love to tell you more about it. BUT I do want to share my word of the year. Last year, there wasn't a specific word that stuck out to me, but this year the word on my heart is SEEK.

I believe that God is asking me to seek him in a new way this year. I know that it will require faith and that it will require giving up things. In order to really truly seek something out, that means giving up other priorities in life. I don't know everything that this year will bring, but I know that I want to seek God through it all.
So this is kind of rambling...so I'm going to stop now. Hopefully you'll here from me again soon.
