Getting Started
I have officially been back in Honduras for one whole week. It seems so familiar in so many ways, yet so much has changed! I have spent this first week "off" from my job, settling into my new house, reconnecting with friends, and trying to wrap my brain around the changes that have happened.
I've moved into my new apartment with my wonderful friend Susie. It's a lot smaller than my old house, but it feels very homey.

It has been a joy to be back and finally at the end of this week, I'm starting to feel like myself again. I don't think I fully grasped some of the changes I would be dealing with and how different it would feel. I have been taking the time to celebrate a truly excellent three years that I spent at International School and all that God taught me, recognizing that missing something doesn't mean I'm any less excited about what is to come.
As I look at the months ahead, I'm realizing that the life of a missionary is not the same as the life of a teacher. There is no morning bus and 7:30 and 2:30 bells. Some days ministry looks like prayer. Some days ministry looks like studying the language. Some days ministry means teaching. Some days it is serving practical needs. Some days it is serving at my local church. Some days it is serving my roommate and my friends. God definitely had perfect timing in having a pastor at the church I went to on sunday morning preach about this very thing.
I do feel like it's been good to do some normal things. I have been able to visit some of my friends from my school, as well as another school where I have friends. I went to a church picnic and I even got to sing on the worship team on Sunday! It's definitely good to be back and feel like I belong here.
I am excited to update you on what I am learning and what God is doing in the weeks to come. This week you can be praying for:
- Transition and Change: Both moving forward and celebrating what happened in the past and getting excited for what is in front of me still.
- Transportation: Currently, my roommate and I are looking for a car that we can purchase or rent for a reasonable price. This offers a much safer way for us to travel around the city than taking public transportation.
Yes! I've been waiting for this update! Thanks! (also. Your apartment looks so much like my house when I lived there.. right down to the white walls and the boarder by the ceiling. How fun. :) )
