5th grade makes me smile (Edition 2)

So fifth graders still make me smile. =) This week has been a good week so far. Today was a very good day. I just decided to record a few more of the humorous or sweet things my children have been doing lately.
This morning I received a poster made by three of my girls. It says, "We love you so much! You are the best teacher ever!!!" Then it had 3 cards attached. I will try and attach a picture of it once I can upload one, but here is what some of the cards said:

God bless you Miss Joder (yes, Joder, That's how they say it so some of them have trouble spelling it) You are amazing. I pray all day and all night for you and your family and I know the God have great things to you and to your family. We love you. Con Amor.

I love you. You are the best teacher. I said that because you are funny and you like to play a lot with us. I hope you never change.

You are a great teacher. You had taught me good things. I hope you like your cards.

So precious. It made me smile a lot. What a blessing! Sometimes it's easy to get discourage and feel like the children have no idea that you care about them.

Yesterday, the students were messing around while getting in line to get construction paper and one of my students fell on the ground. I said, "Excuse me, but why is Jose on the ground?" (knowing that the children had been pushing and not doing what they were supposed to be doing) One of the students raised his hand and said, "Miss, it is because of the forces. The forces that were upon him were greater than the forces holding him up so they were unbalanced..."
I had to laugh and give him credit for his legit answer.

Afterward the student said, "Please do not activate your rage!"
"Activate my rage?"
"Yes miss."
"You really think I'm mad at you?"
" Oh no miss you do not get angry."
"Well, sometimes I do. You've seen that."
He then shakes his head and smiles at me, "WEll.... kind of... maybe a little." He holds his fingers very close together, "only about that much."

Also, we were doing a worksheet where the students had to use one of newton's laws to explain what would happen next. One of them was about Newton's 3rd law. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So we demonstrated with some wooden cars how they bounce off each other when they run into each and go in opposite directions. WE talked about how if two skaters run into each other they fall in opposite directions. So on the worksheet it asked what would happen if two skaters ran into each other according to newton's 3rd law. The answer: They would probably break their heads.
True. However, not quite what I was looking for.
Another question, according to Newton's 1st law (objects at rest stay at rest) what would happen to a cookie you set down on a plate when you looked at it five minutes later. Answer: IT would get eaten. Also valid... =)

At recess today one of the students came up to me and said
"Miss Yoder you need to try something. To which he hands me a piece of cheese. This is some special and very expensive cheese."
"Ok thank you."
"I am going to stay because I would like to see your face when you taste it."

Also update: The Fatman craze has spread. There are now a large variety of other super heroes and villians.
And in case you were wondering Fatman's worst enemy is hunger.
